Services for Jackson Narcomey will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Shipman Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner. Reverend Tom Moore officiating and the burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner.
Jackson was born January 25, 1942 at the Hastings Indian Hospital in Tahlequah, to Raymond and Frances (Lewis) Narcomey. He passed this life on Thursday, March 22, 2012 in Muskogee, at the age of 70.
Jackson attended Eufaula Public schools and was a graduate of the Sequoyah Indian School. He had a lifelong interest in Art and became a professional painter in 1968, a lot of local Artist helped him sell his first painting. Through the years his painting and sculpting have earned him a position of National Prominence among American Indian Artist. He has been awarded numerous awards in various states, one award being at the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee, OK. A lot of his painting and sculptures are displayed in galleries in Oklahoma and the Southwest. Also a private collection in the U. S. and Europe. His art is based on spiritual and cultural values of daily life. Jackson has a strong belief in the Indian Legend on which his art was based.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, (4) brothers; Elliott, Jerry, Buster and Michael and his sister; Maxine Flanary.
Jackson is survived by his two daughters; Jackie Jackson of Porter and Gloria Bezzell of Muskogee, Oklahoma, one brother Jacob Narcomey of Okmulgee and two sisters; Brenda Holmes and husband Harry of Okay and Anna Burklin and husband Mike of Tulsa, seven grandchildren; Emmanuel, Ashlee, Elisa, Brittney, Greg, Timothy and Samantha, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral Service Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. (MillieBelle)
