"Ill Since May, Passed Away Mrs. Lena Bauman, widow of the late Gustave Bauman, passed away at the family home, 644 East Fifth street, shortly after eight o'clock Sunday morning. Taken ill last May, Mrs. Bauman has been failing since then. She was confined to her bed and gradually failed until, worn, but by her sufferings, she expired. Mrs. Bauman was born in Buffalo, N.Y., July 21, 1849, the daughter of the late John and Mary Ann Haas, but has resided practically all her life in Erie.
She leaves to mourn the following daughters and sons: Mrs. George Schaefer, Mrs. William Bell, Mrs. Thomas Boyd, Mrs. Otto J. Hess, Mrs. Anthony Waldinger, Mrs. Henry F. Meyers, Mrs. Edward Meyers, Mrs. M. J. McMahon, Mrs. Andrew Weber, August L. Bauman and Joseph AC. Bauman. One son Louis J. Bauman and one daughter Mrs. Robert Hill, preceded her in death. Her husband, the late Gustoes Bauman, who established the present carpet cleaning business bearing his name, passed away eleven years ago. Fifty-five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers also survive: Mrs. Mary Haiback, Mrs. Joseph Eichenlaub, Mrs. Anna Rechtenwald, Mrs. F. J. Illig, Rev. Louis Haas, O. S. B. of St. Cincent's(Vincent's) College, Beatty, Pa, Rev. Bernard Haas, O. S. B., director of St. Benedict's Military College, Richard, Va and John B. Haas of Erie.
Mrs. Bauman was an active and devout member of St. Mary's church of the Rosary Society and Sacred Heart League, and of Brand No. #11, L.C.B.A.
The funeral will be held at the family home, 644 East 5th street, Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m., Solemn reguiem high mass at St. Mary's church at nine o'clock.
She will be laid to rest in the family lot in Trinity Cemetery."
