Carl G. Butz, 75, of Texas City, TX, died Thursday noon [July 2, 1970] at Danforth Hospital, where he had been a patient five weeks. He had been in failing health five years. A native of Lafayette, he moved to Texas three years ago. He married Mary Theresa Bohan on May 12, 1920, in Lafayette; she survives.

Mr. Butz, former Lafayette businessman, owned and operated Balkema Tin Shop for many years. He was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, Lafayette Lions Club, and American Legion Post 11. He was an Army veteran of World War I.

Surviving with the widow are one son, Robert V. Butz of Texas City, TX, two brothers, Fred Butz and Herman Butz, both of Lafayette; and three grandchildren. The body will be returned to Lafayette for services and burial.
