Mr. Anthony was born June 16, 1936, in Alabama, but grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Rae Rooks, on Aug. 30, 1957, who had preceded him in 2000. After graduating from Baylor University, he went to work for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. where he worked until his retirement here in Tyler after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Kelley of Edinburg; son Darrell (Brandy) Anthony of Asheville, N.C.; his brother. Verbon (Betty) Anthony of Edinburg; sister-in-law, Bobby Anthony of Edinburg; sister-in-law, Joan Watson of Fort Worth; grandson, Shawn (Mandy) Kelley of Edinburg; grandson, Casey Kelley of Waco; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, John L. Anthony and Clara Mae Stuckey Anthony; wife; and brother, John Anthony.
