George W. Davis was the son of Philip A. Davis and Mary King, daughter of Philip King and Mary Wright. He married Luceba Kimball.

Mr. George W. Davis was born in Ohio December 15, 1850 and passed away at the home of his son John in the township of Necedah on May 1, 1934, at the advanced age of 83 years, 4 months, and 16 days. When but a small child, he came with his parents from Ohio, settling on a farm in Richland County, this state. At the age of 25 years, he was united in marriage to Lucebra Kimble (sic), the date of the marriage being September 26, 1874. Some time later, Mr. and Mrs. Davis moved to Juneau County, locating on a homestead about 9 miles north of Necedah, where he engaged in farming and also was employed in the woods. He was a willing worker and was always glad to give the neighbors and friends a helping hand whenever they were in need. In the year 1914, he had the misfortune to fall and break his hip, from which accident he never fully recovered, remaining a cripple the balance of his life. He is survived by two sons, Adam and John of Sprague; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Hall [Clemmie Bell] of Armenia and Mrs. Hattie Doan of North Liberty, IN, and a brother Homer Davis of Emmett, ID. Mrs Davis preceded him in death on May 5, 1925. Funeral services were held Friday, May 4, the sermon being delivered by Rev. E.E. Strevey of the M.E. Church, and burial was made in the UB (Zion) Cemetery in Armenia. Those from out of town attending the ceremony were Walter Davis of Victory, WI and Forest Clark and wife from Lamville, MN. Card of Thanks: We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to our friends and neighbors who did so much at the time of the death and burial of our beloved father G.W. Davis. Every kind act and word of sympathy was truly appreciated.
