Gordon died March 8, 2012. He was born May 25, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ernest Vernon Thiriot and Margaret Woolley Thiriot.
Gordon served in the United States Army during World War II in France and Germany. He graduated from the University of Utah and worked for the Utah Department of Workforce Services for over 30 years. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a ward clerk and scout leader. Gordon also was an outdoor enthusiast-loving boating, camping and hiking. He was an expert amateur botanist.
Gordon is survived by his sister, Jeanne Thiriot Kendell Thorup; sister-in-law, Patricia L. Thiriot; seven nieces, three nephews, numerous grand-nieces and nephews; and great-grand-nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents; sister, Elizabeth Thiriot Cardall; brother, Richard Vernon Thiriot; and nephew, Richard Vernon Thiriot, Jr.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, with a viewing for family and friends from 12:00-12:45 p.m. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
