Thomas Robert Ballard 68, a Lower Yakima Valley Orchardist died at his home Thursday January 17, 1991. Tom was born June 21, 1922 at Hunnewell, MO. to Charles and Jessie Ballard. He spent his early years in Pendleton, Oregon and Walla, Walla, WA. He Later moved with his parents to Grand Junction Clorado where he graduated from the Grand Junction High School. Following his education he entered the US Air Force and served from 1940-1947. He was qualified to fly 21 different types of Aircraft and had graduated from Multi-Engine Aircraft School. In 1947 he married Barbra Loyd Jones at Grand Lake, Colorado. Since 1978 he and his wife have owned and operated an orchard near Grandview where he made his home until the time of his death.
