Obituary from the Weston Democrat Wednesday April 14, 2004: Drexel B. Carder, 78, of Alum Bridge (Pickle Street Community), died at 10:15 on Wednesday April 7, 2004 at his residence following an extended illness. Born on September 15, 1925 in Doddridge County, he was a son of the late Guy Carder and Lettie (Davis) Carder. On November 24, 1948, he married the former Jean (Conley), who survives. Survivors also include two sons, Dane Carder (wife Charlotte Lamb), of Weston, and Ric Carder, of Alum Bridge (Pickle Street); two grandsons Shawn Carder, of Atlanta, GA, and Jason Carder (wife Laura) of Weston; one great-grandchild, Trinity Carder, Weston; three brothers, Dareld Carder (wife Wilma) of Kingwood, Denver Carder (wife Helen) of Waynesburg, PA, and Duane Carder (wife Bonnie) of Norton, OH; one brother-in-law Bob Sprouse, Wadsworth, OH; favorite Aunt Madeline Means, West Union; several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Blaine Carder, and one sister, Thelma Sprouse. Mr. Carder retired from Consolidated Gas Company as a well tender with 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Leading Creek. A rosary service was held Sunday, April 11, 2004 at the Boyle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, April 12, 2004 from the St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father John Finnell as celebrant. Interment followed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew.
