At the age of 71 years 9 months and 18 days, Malinda Sargent, 57 years in the Sunday School work, 43 years a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and the wife of the Rev. Carter over 48 years, went out on the 19th day of September 1890 from her beautiful home in Macedonia, IA to her home in the upper sanctuary. Deceased leaves an aged husband, two sons and three daughters. They are comforted. One son preceded the mother to the throne. Mother will not be a stranger in heaven. The funeral ceremonies were conducted by the pastor of the C.P. Church assisted by Rev. Beck of the M.E. Church. The remains sleep in the Macedonia Cemetery.
