She was born on Feb. 19, 1958, in Minneapolis. She lived in Marina California for most of her life until she went off to college to become a nurse in Santa Barbara.
Kim graduated from seaside high school in 1976 and from the university of California at Santa Barbara.
She worked for 23 years at the Fresenius Medical care center as a dialysis technician.
After Kim received her nursing degree from Santa Barbara college, she became a charge nurse for Fresenius.
She was the treasurer for the American Nephrology Nurses Association.
She was preceded in death by her father, COL, Daniel P. Phillips.
