VIRGINIA GERTRUDE CHRISTIAN, 85, of Alvin passed away on February 29, 2012 in Webster. Virginia was born on May 4, 1926 in Oakman, Alabama to parents, William and Mae (Day) Wilcox. She married James Robert Christian in 1947. They moved to Texas in 1950 and to Alvin in 1961. Virginia had a love of traveling, quilting, American Indian Pow Wows, reading, canning and cooking. Her favorite pastime, however was watching motor sports, especially NASCAR. Her greatest love though, was gathering with her family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Christian on May 18, 1999, her parents and her siblings. She was the last of ten children.
She is survived by her children: Virgil Lee Christian of Alvin, Patricia Lynn Christian of Alvin, Philip Kobetz of Lafayette, Louisiana, Gib Gaeke of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Rob Nichols of Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren: Joey Derek Christian and Rusty Lee Christian; great-grandchildren: Arrian Blaine and Jasper Bill Christian; nieces and nephew: Lona Mae Plyor, Mabel Thrash, Mary Frances Jenkins and Howard Hatchett; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Froberg Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Froberg Chapel with Rev. Rob Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Mustang Lutheran Cemetery.
