Dorothy J. (Hall) Baker, 88, of Zeigler passed at 5:31 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at the Herrin Hospital with her children at her side.
Funeral services for Mrs. Baker will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler with the Rev. Rick Sutton officiating. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the funeral home with Eastern Star Services at 5 p.m.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Baker are suggested to the Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc., 204 Halfway Rd., Marion, IL 62959, or the American Heart Association.
Dorothy was born April 13, 1923, in Zeigler to Hector and Letha (Young) Hall.
She married Wallace Baker Aug. 21, 1947, in Zeigler. He preceded her in death Sept. 2, 1964.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jon W. and Paula Baker of Herrin; a daughter, Lyn A. Baker of Houston, Texas; a granddaughter and her husband, Kristy and Andy Stapleton and their daughters, Josie and Carly of Creal Springs; a grandson, Jon Michael "Mike" Baker of Carterville and their mother, Debra L. Baker of Carterville; and a sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Dale Sims of Springfield, Mo.
Her parents also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Baker was a lifelong Zeigler resident. She was a retired bank teller for the Bank of Zeigler and a member of the Zeigler Chapter 841 of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1943.
