Her obituary was published in The Monroe County Mail on 1 Mar 1906 in Fairport, Monroe, New York, USA. The funeral of Mrs. Eliza Holt Cheesman, who died suddenly Friday morning, of valvular heart disease, was held from her late home, on the Holt road, Monday, at 11 o'clock. Deceased was the daughter of Horace and Sabrah Holt, and wife of the late Rev. E. G. Cheesman. She is survived by one daughter, Belle, and two brothers, Dr. N. Curtice Holt and Dr. L. Emmett Holt of New York. Mrs. Cheesman was born in Webster, in 1843, and all of her life was spent here, with the exception of a few years which were spent in Rose (Wayne), Onenota (Otsego), Sidney (Delaware), and Skaneateles (Onondaga), where her husband was pastor of Presbyterian churches. Although Mrs. Cheesman had been seriously ill for many months there had been a change for the better, and her many friends had hoped for her recovery. The news of her death was a great shock. In her death the Presbyterian church loses a faithful and conscientious member whose place will be hard to fill. By her noble, Christian character and cheerful disposition she had endeared herself to a large circle of friends, who morn her loss.
