"Mrs Inez H Bates died Saturday morning in Olean, NY, at the home of her son, Murl L Bates, with whom she had lived for the past five years. She was a former resident of Spartansburg and was a daughter of Henry and Caroline Stull (sic) [Stowell] Hyde. Mrs Bates was a member of the First Methodist Church of Titusville and the Philathea class of the church. Besides the son with whom she made her home, Mrs Bates leaves a daughter, Mrs C B Stegner of Titusville, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren...[F]uneral services will be held at the Torrey and Hays funeral home in Spartansburg at 2 pm Tuesday. Rev Robert Delorne, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church of Olean, will officiate and interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Spartansburg."
