William D. 'Bill' Hartline, Jr. was born February 24, 1929, in Allen, Texas, and passed away December 2, 2007, in Denison, Texas. The son of William Hartline, Sr. and Estelle Hartline, he was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bo, Calvin, and Roger, and one sister, Joyce Potts. He married Lavada Dorries May 22, 1947, at the Grayson County Courthouse in Sherman, Texas. He had a livelong love of country, bluegrass, and gospel music and played the guitar and dobro for many years. He was an auto mechanic by trade for more than 50 years, 30 of them in the Denison area. His hobbies were fishing and gardening.

Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lavada Hartline, their eight children, Terry Hawkins and husband Sam of Waxahachie, Texas, Sally Capehart and husband Ed of Kaufman, Texas, Katy Doty and husband Robin, of Denison, Beverly Crowe and husband Lewis of Dallas, Cindy Yentzen and husband Ed of Irving, Toby Babbitt and husband Lynn of Andover, New Jersey, Kip Hartline and wife Dorloris of Mabank, and Doug Hartline and wife Jenny of Denison; sisters Tressie Dorries of Kleburg, Texas, Oristgene Potts of Colbert, Betty Chisom of Denison, and Mary Lou Shields of Denison; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bratcher Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jody Shires officiating. Burial will follow in the Colbert Garden of Memory Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Bratcher Funeral Home, Denison.
