They had no children.
Alfreda Post Carhart was born and grew up in Syria, where her father, Dr. George Post, was a medical missionary. After her marriage to Rev. Charles L. Carhart, a Presbyterian missionary, she went with him to China in 1920. In 1928 they returned to the United States where they lived in Chevy Chase. They were active members of the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church. In 1956 she moved to East Williston, New York. She died at age 89 on August 29, 1959 at East Williston. She was a former resident of the District of Columbia. She was predeceased by her husband. There were no immediate survivors. Services and cremation were held at East Williston, New York. Graveside services and interment were at Oak Hill Cemetery.
