Hazel V. Thurston, 88, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village in Boonsboro.

Born July 11, 1917, in Cavetown, she was the daughter of the late Warren W. and Amy Stoner Winters.

She was a 1936 graduate of St. Mary's Catholic High School in Hagerstown.

She retired from Fairchild Inc. after 31 years of service.

She was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

She is survived by her husband, Preston W. Thurston of Boonsboro, whom she married July 31, 1972; one son, Dennis W. Masters of Hagerstown; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila A. Masters; brothers; and sisters.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Revs. Dennis B. Upton and Gilbert Thurston III will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home
