Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 70-years, Jane (nee Carter);
and their eight children: Joan, David (Patty), Tom, Jim “Jason” (Vida), Susan, Debbie, Patti (Charlie), and Kathleen.
The couple was blessed with 14 grandchildren: Angela, Scott (Jessica), Ed (Sarah), John, Morgan, Valerie, Shay, Jake, Amelia, Rebecca, Aaron (Ellen), Abraham, Simon and Oliver. Completing the immediate family are 10 great-grandchildren: Alexander, Johnathon, William, Alora, Sarah, Samantha, Tristan, Lydia, Heidi and Dexter.
He was preceded in death by his mother Irene (nee Sammon); father Harrison and sisters June and Janet. He was extraordinarily proud of his family’s American heritage dating back to 1608.
Paul was a veteran of the US Army in WWII serving in the South Pacific Theatre from 1943-1946; occupation duty in Austria from 1949-1951, and the Korean War in 1952 with the 2nd Infantry Division. Following his service he was a special agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company for 46 years.
Paul had the gift of storytelling, an amazing memory, and a dry wit. His love of sport, the outdoors and travel (to 49 states, Canada, Mexico and Europe) was shared with and passed down to his family. While his military experience resulted in a disciplined and commanding demeanor, he was a softy for a Broadway musical and a John Wayne flick. Those who knew him well knew he appreciated a fine steak and dry martini.
A private interment along with full military honors will be celebrated by the family.
