Patrick L. "Porky" Gladysz of Brookfield passed away at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in his home after a brief illness of cancer. He was 77.

Mr. Gladysz was born Oct. 29, 1934, at home in Brookfield, a son to Peter and Sophie Shuba Gladysz.

A 1952 graduate from Brookfield High School, he went on to proudly serve his country in the Army as a corporal during the Korean conflict.

Following his discharge from the service, Porky worked for Local 9 of the Brick Layers Union, New Castle, and eventually became self-employed; he actually never retired.

In his spare time, Porky enjoyed organic gardening, farming, tinkering with cars and watching NASCAR. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family at home.

His survivors include his brother, Edward M. Gladysz and his wife Kathleen, Brookfield; and his sisters, Stella Lazor, Hermitage; Frances Malia, Sharpsville; Mary Perilli, West Middlesex; and Patricia Curren, Porky's twin, Simi Valley, Calif.; and his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents; his sister, Waja "Susie" Malenky; and his brothers, William and Joseph Gladysz.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
