Erik E. ''Eggy'' Egerdahl, 22, of East First Street, died accidentally Wednesday, April 8, 1998, after slipping while walking along the St. Louis River at Jay Cooke State Park. He was born in Duluth on Sept. 15, 1975.

Erik grew up in Hermantown and was a 1994 graduated of Hermantown High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in many sports including hockey, baseball and soccer. Following high school he spent a year playing Junior League Hockey in Green Bay, Wis., for the Green Bay Gamblers. Erik was in his third year of college at St. Scholastica, majoring in English with an art minor, and hoping to later pursue a degree in graphic design.

Erik enjoyed art and music, having been previously involved with a band, playing bass and guitar. Erik also composed and recorded several songs. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Johnson; and an uncle, Terry Egerdahl, who both died in 1980.

Erik is survived by his parents, Gary and Chris Egerdahl; brother, Adam; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Marcia Egerdahl; maternal grandmother, Annabelle Johnson; an uncle, Richard Pesonen; and many cousins.

Burial in Oneota Cemetery.
