Dorothy Yvonne Brown, 79, passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in the Robert Lee Care Center, Robert Lee, Texas. Visitation will be held all day Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at Robert Lee Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Robert Lee Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
She is survived by her sister, Jo Dell, of Orange County, Calif.; her daughter, Frances O'Reilly of Royse City, Texas; three grandchildren, Erin O'Reilly of Robert Lee, Texas, Brian and Austin O'Reilly of Royse City, Texas; and six great-grandchildren.
Dot was the first child born to Ronald and Una Walton on Feb. 11, 1932, in Bronte, Texas. On Sept. 16, 1949, she married Frank P. (Pritch) Brown. He preceded her in death in June 2006.
They lived in Silver, Texas, for a brief period then moved close to McAllen, Texas, when Pritch was transfered by Sun Oil Co. In 1959, Pritch was transfered to Oklahoma. In 1981, when Dot's parents had to be put into the nursing home, they moved back to Robert Lee. While they were in Oklahoma, Dot was a volunteer Sunday school teacher, an avid couples bridge player and a district manager for Braum's Ice Cream Stores. When she and Pritch moved back to Robert Lee she volunteered at the nursing home.
Pritch and Dot loved to go camping. They had been to every state in the union except Hawaii. They also traveled to Canada, Mexico and even a few European destinations while their daughter was in the Army stationed in Germany. Dot was a wonderful person with a lot to give to those around her. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be truly missed.
