Cpl. Chris Randall Brown is the son of Conley Orear "Jack" "Buddy" Brown, Jr. (Sept. 15, 1930 AL - Jan. 02, 1996 AL) and his first wife, Mary. Chris Randall Brown was the brother of Eric Brown and he was the Grandson of the late Conley Orear "Jack" Brown, Sr. (Jan. 21, 1900 AL - Dec. 17, 1973 AL) and Nora Elizabeth "Teenie" Gober Brown (Oct. 05, 1905 AL - Dec. 21, 1975 AL).
Chris Randall Brown attended Etowah High School in Attalla, Etowah Co., AL before joining the Marine Corps and he was an active member of the Gallant Baptist Church. He was a young man, who made many accomplishments in his lifetime and was highly respected by those who knew him. He was a man of strong character and faith.
We, his family, as well as his friends, celebrate Chris's life as a Christian, who has gone home to be with the Lord. We honor him with pride for his Military accomplishments and for serving our country and keeping it safe. We don't remember Chris for his death, we remember him for his life.
Conley Orear "Jack" "Buddy" Brown, Jr., who was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War, always took great pride in the fact that his son, Cpl. Chris Randall Brown had also served his country, as a member of the United States Military. After the death of Chris Randall Brown, Conley Orear "Jack" "Buddy" Brown, Jr. continued to take great pride in Chris for his service to his country and the accomplishments Chris made as a Marine.
Cpl. Chris Randall Brown's death was in the News Media, but unfortuntly, much later on, his death was on the Entertainment Media, which was sad because Entertaiment is what it is, it's not the News Media. While the movie was an accurate account of Chris's death, the movie grossly misrepresented the characterization of Chris's parents and some of the events, and who did what during the events that followed Chris's death.
The worse outcome of the movie was that while people were entertained and still talk about the movie, many forget that it was a movie and not real life, and sadly, they believe that everything single thing portrayed in the movie is a fact and some who never knew Chris Randall Brown, only remember him for his death, and not for the wonderful Christian, family, and military life that he led up until his death.
