Norman was son of Chappell and Jennie Boone Fowler Carstarphen. The family apparently moved right away to Ft. Smith Ark. because Norman was christened there on 26 Jul 1891. Norman moved to New Orleans in time to be listed as a clerk in the 1911 City Directory. Norman married Marie Henrietta Garic 22 Apr 1912. After Norman and Henrietta divorced, he married Maude S. Stout before 1930 and they lived in Houston where he worked as a taxi cab dispatcher.
