Spruce Alexander Boggs Sr.; b: North Carolina; son of James Boggs; married Martha Ann Kell; came to Illinois 1824, returned to North Carolina and then came back 1826.

Spruce was one of the first members of the Reformed Presbyterian Church that would come to be known as Old Covenanter many years later. He donated the land that the cemetery and church are on -- sometime around 1831 when locals attempted to form a church.
