Arthur A. Lavigne, 91, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, after a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of Yvette (Arguin) Lavigne, married 48 years; and son of the late J. B. Henri and Mederise (Lepere) Lavigne. He was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and was a high school graduate. He was a WW II Army Veteran, and held the rank of Technician 5th Grade, he served in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe, and he was the recipient of many medals and citations.
He was formerly employed as an Inspector in the Supply Department at Newport Naval Base until his retirement and had previously worked at Pratt Whitney in CT.

Arthur was an avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan, and he was a former coin collector. In his leisure time he enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and traveling but most of all he loved being with his family and grandchildren.
