Eugene B. "Gene" Irving, 79, Martinsville passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at The Waters of Martinsville.
He was born on Wednesday, June 29, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late George W. Irving and Margaret E. (Kelly) Irving Glenn.
Gene worked at the Morgantown Post Office as a mail carrier. He retired in 1998 after working for the postal service 42 years. He was a 1949 graduate of Nineveh High School and attended IUPUI.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice M. (Barger) Irving, and they were married June 25, 1950; son, Russell Irving and wife Barbara of Franklin; daughters, Theresa Gregory of Morgantown, Cathy McClanahan and husband Michael of Martinsville and Cindy Thompson of Martinsville; brother, Arthur G. Irving of Olympia, Washington; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Costin Funeral Chapel with Pastor Andy Kinsey officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Costin Funeral Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral services.
Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
