Death date taken from probate record. Cannot read date of birth on stone, but I can make out the 1828, which coincides with census records. There are some records listing him as James, which could possibly be a mistranscription of Jerry in hard to read writing. There are many more records that refer to him as Jeremiah than as James. I have only found him listed as James on the 1870 census and parts of his probate record (other parts have him as Jeremiah). However, in land records between he and his oldest son John, who was the eventual administrator of his estate, he is listed as Jeremiah. Also, in a federal land record, his son Jerry Mirah is listed as Jeremiah, Jr. I am still researching this family and welcome all comments/information.

His first wife was Nancy Rawls, born 1829 in Georgia. They married 9/17/1850 in Marion County, GA. He married secondly on 10/15/1861 in Bienville Parish to Laurella Stevenson Alden Fuller, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Stevenson and Elizabeth Willis. This was her 3rd marriage. After she died, he married thirdly on 2/10/1871 in Bienville Parish to Arminta Brackin, a widow whose maiden name is not known at this time.

----------------------------------------------------------

According to Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Northwest Louisiana, The Southern Publishing Company, Chicago & Nashville, 1890, Jeremiah was listed in a parish record of citizens the parish sent to the civil war. Most probably in the "Old Home Guard".
