Death of Mrs. S. P. Engle.
Mrs. Elizabeth S. Engle, wife of S. P. Engl;e, died at her home in this city at 9:30 a.m. last Friday, June 2, 1905, after about a week's illness, aged 76 years, 4 months and 22 days. She was born in Harrison county, Ky., Jan. 10,1829, was married to S. P. Engle Sept. 24 (sic), 1845, and came to this city in 1857, where she continued to reside. She was the mother of 11 children, seven of whom with the aged husband survive her.
Soon after her marriage she united with the M. E. Church, South, and lived a faithful christian life. She was a devoted wife and mother, and scattered sunshine and love all along her extended pathway in life. May the feeble and aged husband and the sons and daughters greet their departed wife and mother in the future world.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. J. Reed at the M. E. C. S. at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, attended by a large audience. There were many beautiful floral offerings. Burial in I. O. O. F. cemetery.
