Ozella Mincolla, 89, of Sudbury, Mass., passed away peacefully Monday morning, October 23, 2006. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony V. Mincolla; her son, Dr. Anthony Mincolla; and her grandson, Michael Phalen. She is survived by her children, Carol and Fred Moriarty, Hinsdale, N.H., Rhonda and Americo Diniz, Sudbury, Mass., Mark and Cecelia Mincolla, Marshfield, Mass.; son-in-law, James Phalen, Sudbury, Mass.; her grandchildren, Anthony V. III and Maria Mincolla, Binghamton, Rhonda and Dr. Kevin Shortt, Cooperstown, Kelly and Steve Fletcher, Guilford, Vt., Christopher and Jennifer Phalen, Jericho, Vt., Nicholas Mincolla, Alexis Mincolla, Cohasset, Mass., Vanessa Mincolla, Marshfield, Mass.; her great-grandchildren, Erin Ozella Rafaus, Galen Fletcher, Gianna Mincolla, Julianna Mincolla, Raffaella Mincolla, Emma Phalen, Michael Phalen, Brenden Phalen; her sisters-in-law, Fannie Stanley and Catherine Wolfe, Naples, Fla. Ozella was born January 16, 1917 in Laceyville, Pa., the daughter of Ralph and Alice Gorden VanNess. She moved to Binghamton and graduated from Binghamton Central High School. She married Anthony V. Mincolla, and with her husband established A. V. Mincolla Distributing Company. After raising their four children, she was a volunteer at Lourdes Hospital for many years. She retired to a home in Falmouth, Mass., on Cape Cod, where she enjoyed time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and friends. After an illness she moved to Sudbury, Mass. to be near her children.
Funeral Services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Thursday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ozella may be made to Lourdes Hospital Foundation, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
