Mary C. (Ring) Ratchford, age 83, of The Arbors in Chicopee, former longtime Holyoke resident, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Holyoke Healthcare Center. She was born in Derby, CT, daughter of the late William and Rose (Carroll) Ring and was a graduate of Derby High School. Mary received her Nursing Degree at Greenwich Hospital School of Nursing in CT, and was employed as a Registered Nurse at several area nursing homes. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Dr. Harold R. Ratchford, a son, Harold Ratchford of Westfield, three daughters: Susan Meenaghan and her husband James of Chelmsford, Beverly Falcon of Chelmsford, and Cheryl "Chea" Ratchford of Chicopee, twelve grandchildren: Jackie Thompson, Ashley Ratchford, Nora and Brian Meenaghan, Corey and Matthew Leveille, Marie Bristol, Nicole and Michael Ratchford, Gennie and Gillian Falcon, and Bridget Caraballo, four great-granddaughters and a brother John F. Ring of CT. Mary was predeceased by a son Michael F. Ratchford in 2005, and a brother William H. Ring. The Funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Church (formerly Holy Cross Church). Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445 or to Beacon Hospice, 815 Worcester Street, Springfield, MA 01151.
