Alfred Carson James, 59, husband of Mrs. Bessie M. James, died at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 3:50 a.m. Besides his wife he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Cecil Eubank, of Seaford, Del., and Mrs. Albert Roberts, of Baltimore, and a brother, Elmer C. James of Blades, Del.
Mr. James was the son of the late Albert C. and Mrs. Miriam Norton James and was a native of Jennings, La. He formerly resided in Seaford, and had been a resident of Norfolk for 44 years. He was formerly associated with the old W.M. Whaley Company and for the past 28 years had been store manager for the Tidewater Supply Company.
Mr. James was active in religious and fraternal circles, being a member of the Ocean View Baptist Church, Ruth Lodge No. 89, A.F. & A.M.; John Walters Royal Arch Chapter, Grice Commandery No. 16, Knights Templar, and Khedive Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow noon. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
