J. M. Thomas, 82, died at his home on Newton route one at 7:30 this morning, following a long illness. He had lived in the community all his life and was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Reynolds, Mrs. J. H. Drew, and Mrs. J. H. GLOVER , all of Newton, route one; a brother, E. O. Thomas of Newton route one; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Thomley and Mrs. Mattie Thomley, both of Wicksburg and Mrs. Ida Stephens of Jacksonville, FL; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
