Miriam (Glickman) Baxter 98 of Longmeadow died Sunday at a local nursing home. Born in Springfield, she was a life long resident of this area and had lived in Longmeadow for 35 years. Miriam was a graduate of Baystate Medical Center School of Nursing and was the director of health services at Baypath College from 1959 - 1979. She was a member of the American Nurse's Association, Hospital Alumni Association at Baystate Medical Center, Temple Beth El and their sisterhood, Springfield JCC and Hadassah. Miriam was predeceased by her husband Gerald Baxter who died in 1992. She leaves a son Frederic Baxter of Springfield, Sheila Okun of Springfield, five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday 12 noon at the Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home with burial in Beth El Cemetery. Shiva will be Tues. & Wed. at the home of Frederic Baxter 85 Paulk Terrace, Springfield, MA with services at 7:00 PM.
