FORMER ELWOOD WOMAN EXPIRES- Mrs. Mary Alice Riley Succumbs At Home In Indianapolis Sunday Morning
Mrs. Mary Alice Riley 77, widow of Louis Riley, former Elwood resident, died Sunday morning at 6:30 o'clock at her home at 2121 Madison Avenue Indianapolis of infirmities of age and complications. She was the daughter of Jewett and Rachel Barnes and was born ar Rigdon November 7,1861. She was united in marriage to Louis Riley fifty-nine years ago. Thirteen children were born to this union. Mr.Riley died December 25,1937. Surviving are nine children, Mrs.Joseph Heineman,Curtisville; Henry Edgar Riley,Hobbs; Grover Cleveland and Clifford Riley, both of Elwood; John Orville, Lemuel Noble, William F., Oris and James W. Riley, all of Indianapolis; two step-daughters, Mrs. Minnie Decker and Mrs. Iva Drake, both of Elwood; one sister Mrs. Ella Downey of Hobbs and six brothers, Frank Barnes,Elwood; Charles, Jacob and William Barnes, all of Hobbs; George and Harvey Barnes, both of Alexandria. There are twenty-two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral director Edgar Clark was called to take care of the body. Funeral services will be conducted at the Curtisville Christian Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev Ephriam D'Lowe of Indianapolis in charge. Burial will follow in the Cook Cemetery.
