Lt. Col. Charles Henry Hendrix, (U.S. Army, Retired), 86, husband of Ellouise (Farmer) Hendrix, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, January 5, 2012.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Paul M. and Arizona (Wilson) Hendrix, former Spartanburg County Administrator, former city manager of Travelers Rest, retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service and member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are two daughters, Susan Hendrix Peden and her husband, Gene of Spartanburg and Teresa Hendrix Bennett and her husband, Jeff of Travelers Rest; a foster son, Jim Coleman of Spartanburg; two brothers, Douglas Hendrix of Spartanburg and James Hendrix of Duncan; and four grandchildren, Chase Peden, Chelsea Bennett, Caleb Bennett, and Caroline Bennett.

Funeral services were held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 8, 2012 at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Arthur Holt and Rev. John Rush.

Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park with full military rites.

Pallbearers were Chase Peden, Caleb Bennett, Jim Coleman, and Joseph Farmer.

Visitation was held 1:00-2:00 PM Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 N. Main Street, Greer, SC 29650.
