Mr Pentecost, a farmer in the Mercer Community, experienced a heart attack on June 25 and had been critically ill at Jackson-Madison County Hospital since that time.
He was born in Mercer on Sept 13, 1893, son of the late William and Callie Harston Pentecost. He lived his entire life in Mercer and had been engaged in farming until 1963 when he retired due to ill health.
Mr Pentecost was a member of the Shady Grove Methodist Church.
He was first married in 1914 to Miss Gertrude Curlin and later married to Mrs Sue Foster.
Survivors: Mrs Sue Foster Pentecost, Raymond Pentecost of Haywood County' a step-daughter, Mrs CL Rope of Nashville; a granddaughter, Mrs French Richards Jr of Brownsville and two great-grandchildren.
Burial: Shady Grove Cemetery, near Mercer.
Pallbearers: Hubert Barcroft, Alvin Barden, Marcus Farr, Nix Foote, AD Herron and Jack Mulherin.
