Orville C. Rumrey
Orville C. Rumrey, 95, of Lake St. Louis, passed away on November 30, 2011 in Lake St. Louis, MO.
He was born on June 20, 1916 to Chester and Martha (Klohs) Rumrey at Aberdeen, SD. Orville worked as an Executive Vice President for Gerber State Bank. He married Elva Pierson in 1939.
Orville is survived by his loving spouse Elva, son - Roger (Carolyn) Rum- rey of Manchester, MO; Orlah (Ronald) King of Bennettsville, SC; daughter – LouAnn (Melvin) Klump of Elsberry, MO; and sister – Lavonne Keeney of San Mateo, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Rumrey, mother, Martha Rumrey, and 2 grandchildren.
Mr. Rumrey had a lifelong passion for sports and traveling. He played basketball and baseball in High School. The baseball extended to slow pitch softball all of his adult life, ultimately competing in two Senior Olympic tourna- ments.
After retiring from softball he competed in horseshoes, winning a gold medal in the Florida Senior Olympics.
After traveling all fifty states with his wife, the Rumreys then traveled ex- tensively in Canada and parts of Europe. They visited China for their 50th An- niversary in 1989.
Funeral services were December 2 at the Pitman Funeral Home, Wentz- ville, MO, with interment in the Friendship Creek Cemetery,.
