Helen Pearl Reed (nee Schaeffer), age 90, of Hobart, formerly of Chesterton and Gary, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2004. She is survived by daughter Toniellen "Toni" Leto of Hobart; son, Eugene E. (Terry) Reed III of Ester, Alaska; grandson, Mark C. (Aimee Skalba) Leto of Hobart; great-grandson, Ryan J. Leto of Hobart. She was preceded in death by husband Eugene E. Reed, Jr. on December 4, 1991 and son-in-law, Salvatore J. Leto on April 4, 1996. Mrs. Reed was a member of St. Bridget Church, the Vivian's Society at B.P.O. Hobart Elks Lodge #1152. She was raised in Kewaskum, Wisconsin and graduated as Valedictorian from Kewaskum High School. She received her BA Degree from the University of Wisconsin and her MB from Loyola University. She was a retired teacher from the Gary Public School System with 25 years of service, having taught at Miller, Tolleston and Ernie Pyle Elementary Schools. She was a member of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority, Honored Ladies of the Orak Shrine and Daughters of the Nile and the Indiana Retired Teacher's Association. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville on Sunday from 2 to 6 P.M. Prayer service Sunday at 4:00 p.m.; Daughters of the Nile service at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 19, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Bridget Church, 568 E. 2nd Street, Hobart, with Rev.
