She was born at Council Grove, the daughter of William and Margaret J. Rader Leffler. She moved to Emporia May 1, 1985 from Alexandria, Louisianna.
She was married to Frank J. Edmiston in 1926. They were divorced.
She married W. J. Shirkey in 1939. He died in 1967. A son and great-granddaughter also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Robert Edmiston, Americus; two sisters: Myrtle White, Enid, Okla. and Rose Shellenberger, Bushong; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
