Mr. Daniel W. "Danny" McWherter, 74, of Union City went home to be with the Lord at 5:55 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services for Mr. McWherter will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Jerry Leggett and Brother Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Burial will follow Palmersville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday.
Mr. McWherter was born June 26, 1937, in Palmersville, son of the late Launis and LaVelle (Jackson) McWherter. He married the former Robbie Cooper on August 24, 1956. She survives. He was the Valedictorian of the former Palmersville High School Class of 1955. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Faith Sunday School class. Mr. McWherter retired from the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 31 1/2 years of service.
In addition to his wife he is also survived by his daughter, Danette McWherter of Union City; his son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Robin McWherter of Union City; four grandchildren, Kayse Hubbard, Clay McWherter, Meagen Duncan and Caden McWherter all of Union City; four great grandchildren, Aubry, Chloe, Kaylee and Hadlee; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Ady McWherter of Sparksburg, Georgia and Gary and Pat McWherter of Taylorville, Illinois.
