A native of Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late James Herman Collins, Sr. (1893-1966) and Eva Mae (Pearson) Collins (1895-1967) who were married November 23, 1913 in Greenville, SC.
She was a graduate of Mountain View High School, a retired employee of Collins Provision Company and a member of Southern Bleachery Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Richard L. (Lew) Ayers of Simpsonville and James M. Ayers of Canton, Georgia; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by a brother, Herman Collins, Jr. and a sister, Betty Painter.
Graveside services were held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Visitation was held following the service at the cemetery.
Memorials could be made to Rocky Creek Baptist Church, Senior Adults, Greenville, SC, or the charity of one's choice.
