NEWPORT, RI - George J. Carpetis, 85, of Heatherwood Nursing, Newport, RI, formerly of 2 Equality Park West, Newport, RI, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport, RI.

Born in Newport, RI on May 6, 1920, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Annis) Carpetis.

Mr. Carpetis served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Spyridon´s Greek Church and of the AHEPA.

He is survived by his sister in-law Thelma Carpetis of Cranston, RI.

He was the brother of the late Michael Carpetis, Constantine "Gus" Carpetis, Koula Boras and Helen Karatkanos.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2005, at 9:00AM, in St. Spyridon's Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport.

Burial will be in Island Annex Cemetery in Newport.
