Little lovebird, she was a creamino peach-face. She had a deep hatred of remote controller buttons, telephones and also of loose change. Woe unto anyone who was trying to count change if she was around, for she would viciously attack the change or fingers counting it. Typical of most lovebirds, she was full of endless rage and played hard. If hate and anger kept things alive she'd've lived forever, she had a lot of both.

Ra was lifelong best friends with Q, the cockatiel in the picture, and loved him for all her long years.

One day, many moons ago, I had Ra and Q out, playing on the back of the couch. Q was whistling like normal and Ra standing face to face with him, poofy and angry looking. I left the tv remote on the seat of the couch and went out of the room for a few moments. I don't even think it was 30 seconds I was gone, it was just a quick duck out and back. Q was right where I left him, Ra wasn't. When I looked at the seat there was Ra, standing about 18 inches from the remote, just as tall, proud, and sassy as a lovebird can be. She did her fast "chook chook chook!" and whirred her wings, seeming pleased as could be. Then I noticed these weird little black crumbs all over her, around her, and on the couch.

What the...

In the space of 30 seconds Ra had totally destroyed every button on the remote control. Chewed them completely off, except 2 which were partly intact, I couldn't believe it. She did it so fast! And was so obviously satisfied with herself! What a terrible lovebird! Then when I tried to reach for the remote she wanted to fight for it, bit me, then tried to pry the battery cover off. After that I kept remotes as far away from her as possible.

She was deeply loved.

I have learned that it must be a trait of lovebirds to have a burning passionate hatred of remotes, because Boo, my new lovie, wants to kill the remote too :(

The cypress tree she and Q are buried under is strung with holiday lights that I have lit on and off all year. We all swear Ra is haunting the tree, starting the day after I buried my Teeny-ness lights started going on and off, working at odd times. I put a lighted Santa Claus hat on the top of the tree for Christmas and it would light in the house, then when it was outside, but would if not plugged into the tree. Now, a month after Christmas, the darn hat is lit. Ra is still playing the mischief maker!
