He was a Rev War Soldier of Massachusetts, Second Lieut under Col Thomas Stickney. He married Hannah Pattee in 1757, the daughter of Seth Pattee of Salem. Oliver first lived in Hopkinton and moved to Salem and then back in 1790. Late in his life he moved to Waterville Maine to live with his son Levi and died there 1824. He was buried in the Monument Park section.
His son Levi moved from Boston to Waterville where he ran a tavern on Main Street, a stop on the early stage line.
