Rosalind Marie VanHorn, age 83, of Alma passed away Friday, November 11, 2005 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma and went to be with her Lord and Savior.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 14th at 11 a.m. at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma with Pastor Jack Collins and Pastor Ron Ives officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Gardens Cemetery, Elwell. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-8 p.m.

Rosalind was born February 28, 1922 in Stanton the daughter of James and Mildred (Dawson) Essex. She married Francis VanHorn on September 23, 1939. She was a nurses aide for Wilcox Health Care Center for 17 years and attended both the Light of Life Four Square Church in Alma and the Potter's House in Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, making dolls and yard work, gardening and planting flowers.

Rosalind is survived by four sons, Roger (Willa) VanHorn of Odessa, TX, Gerry (Ruth) VanHorn of Beaverton, Rex (Bonnie) VanHorn Sr. of Alma and Kirk (Sandy) VanHorn of Mt. Pleasant; 16 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; one brother, James E. (Birdie) Essex of Alma and a sister, Harriet (Kenneth) Beard of Clare.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis VanHorn in 2002; daughter-in-law, Diane VanHorn; sister, Venna Holman; brother, Ford Essex and two great grandsons.
