Walt was born in Wabash Co., Indiana to Lowell Walter & Amy Opal Warfield Poole. Never married; released from the Army in 1957. Shortly after being released from the service, he was on his way home from his girlfriend's home, when somewhere close to Twelve Mile, Indiana, he was involved in a severe auto accident which took a lengthy recovery. It was raining that night,conditions not good, when he hit a tree head-on.
