Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Oct. 31, 1940

In beautiful rites Tuesday afternoon, Dieterich Wilhelm Heye was laid to rest after a long life of service, love and friendship to all with whom he came in contact.
Funeral services were held from the Robertson and Seydler Chapel at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. W. Wolf, pastor of the Lutheran church of which Mr. Heye was a devoted and faithful member, presiding.
"Rock of Ages" was sung by the choir, after which Rev. Wolf read the ten great promises and a beautiful scripture lesson from Ephesians 6:10-18. He then delivered an inspiring message, choosing for his text "Lord to whom shall we go.Thou hast the words of Eternal life." John 6:38.
Rev. C. M. Campbell, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, led in prayer, after which serves were completed at the Odd Fellows cemetery. There the twenty third Psalm was read and all those assembled to pay a last tribute to Mr. Heye joined in the Lords Prayer.
At both the chapel and the cemetery, a wealth of beautiful floral offerings was an impressive tribute Special offerings were from the Lutheran Congregation and the Ladies Aid, and memorial wreaths were from the Lutheran Brotherhood, the Sunday School, and the Luther League.
Pallbearers were H. M. Simon, Sr., Alfred Speehler, Duncan Davis, Robert Foster, Otto Wendel and R. W. Mints.

More then forty years ago he came to Gonzales and with his brother, Fritz Heye, established Heye Company here. In an historical sketch which he wrote concerning the founding and progress of the church, he wrote, "Thebsame year, 1916 October 15, a Sunday Schwith 32 pupils was organized.
