Sam was a radio announcer for KCLU for many years. He was raised by his uncle, P.H. Myers after his mother died when he was 8 1/2 months old.
He also worked at radio stations in Batesville and Hope Ark., Springfield and Waynesville, Mo.
He was a member of Rolla Eagles Lodge.
He graduated from Cuba and St. James schools and the School of the Ozarks.
He was survied by one sister, Mrs. Mildred Avery of Belleville, IL.
He also published many poems.
Sam had jet black hair with a spot of solid white in the back, years after he died I found a kitten on my door step that was solid black except for a white spot the same shape and in the same place as Sam's had been.
I felt like you were sending me the cat to let me know you were watching over me.
