Mrs. Anna Mae Goss Howell, of Cleveland, Tenn., formerly of Cartersville, died in Cleveland, Tenn., on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999.

She was born June 19, 1913, in Cherokee County, Ga., daughter of the late Walt Elrod and Delia May Jarrett Elrod. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Benjamin Andrew (Red) Goss and Howard C. Howell; a son, James Goss; a grandson, Chris Goss; two sisters, Nora Lewis and Juanita Elrod; four brothers, Carl, Jackie, Oron and H.C. Elrod.

Mrs. Howell had been a long distance operator for Southern Bell and had worked at Unique Knitting Mill in Acworth.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Roni and Linda Goss of Oklahoma City and Lari and Carolyn Goss of Brentwood, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Dana, Andy, Georgi-Anna, Nathan, B.J., Nicholas, Jonathan and Cameron; one sister, Onie Laughter of Cleveland, Tenn.; one brother, Tommy Elrod; five great-grandchildren, Carla, Brittany, Nicholas, Hannah and Samantha; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Center Baptist Church, with Lari Goss and Rev. Jeff Bently officiating. Lari and Roni Goss will be in charge of the music. Interment will be in the Center Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Andy Goss, B.J. Goss, Nathan Goss, Jonathan Goss, Nicholas Goss and Jason Bentley. Eddie Elrod will serve as honorary pallbearer.
