Sr Mary Aquinata Kowalewski CSSF

Josephine Kowalewski was born in Baltimore MD, in 1913. She entered the postulancy of the Felician Sisters in Lodi NJ in 1931, and received the Felician habit in 1932 receiving the name Mary Aquinata. She made first religious vows in 1933 and professed final vows in 1939. Sr Mary Aquinata spent most of her religious life in the ministry of education, both as a teacher and a school librarian.
Sr Mary Aquinata died on July 17, 2011 in Lodi, New Jersey. She was 97 years old and had been a Felician Sister for 80 years. She is survived by members of her extended family, most of whom live in Maryland.
A vigil service was held at the Lodi motherhouse on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 6 PM. Funeral services for Sr Mary Aquinata Kowalewski were celebrated at the Felician Sisters' Infirmary Chapel, Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, at 11 AM on Tuesday morning, July 26, 2011. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, Sr Aquinata was laid to rest in the Felician Sisters' Cemetery in Lodi.
